Tara is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. She graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1973 with a B.A. in Psychology. She then completed her masters in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1979 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
Tara developed her foundation as a counselor working with the chronically emotionally disabled population doing individual, group and family counseling. She continued her career as an outpatient therapist working at several local community mental health centers, as well as other non-profit agencies, such as Catholic Social Services. For seven years she provided individual, group and family counseling to the behavioral health unit of Community Hospital of New Port Richey. For the past fifteen years Tara was in private practice with a local psychiatric, Dr. Sae Song.
Tara provides compassionate counseling to help patients sort through their emotions in order to attain insight and understanding, enabling them to make healthy choices. As a holistic therapist, Tara gives patients the opportunity to explore how the physical, mental and emotional bodies act together, but does not force her believe system on anyone. She works with you to create a unique treatment plan, with your input and approval. Tara’s aim is to help you get started down the path of emotional recovery.
Tara has expertise in the areas of depression, anxiety and spiritual concerns. She also treats people for the following issues: Alzheimer’s, anger management, bipolar disorder, codependency issues, grief, life stages/passages, relationship issues, self esteem, trauma/PTSD and women’s issues.
Tara is eclectic in her use of modalities and counseling techniques. She has been trained in EMDR, ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), Energy Psychology techniques and has a background in esoteric psychology.
